This unique course offers you the opportunity to learn the Japanese language and the traditional culture. The Japanese ‘plus’ traditional culture programme gives you the chance to participate in a vast array of activities with Japanese local people. Kimono, ceramics, tea ceremony, calligraphy, flower arrangement, Japanese cookery, dance and theater, military arts (e.g. aikido), religion/spirituality and customs are just some of the activities on offer. You will have a very full and interactive timetable with Japanese classes in the morning and traditional culture in the afternoon.

All Japanese ‘plus’ traditional culture courses are designed to develop appreciation and help you understand the specifics of the Japanese way of life. A specialist teacher from each point of interest will help you do this. By the end of the course you will understand the history behind a particular art form, be able to engage in it and understand the language aspects that run alongside.
