Carnivals, Holy Week, fiestas and Patron Saints' days make Nerja an ideal place to enjoy Spanish culture all  year round.  The name Nerja originates from the Arabic word Nerixa, meaning, “abundant spring”.   Historically, the village dates back to the Palaeolithic or Old Stone Age era  and  you can visit the prehistoric caves. The local, pretty white villages are also well worth a visit to explore their history, wines and tropical fruit.

The Nerja Spanish  School is located in the centre of the village, conveniently close to all types of accommodation, local shops and beaches.  Nerja School is actually in a traditional  Andalusian house with a large tropical garden - a great place to study. There are 12 indoor and outdoor classrooms, a bookshop and a cafeteria  in which  to relax between lessons.
