Galway English School runs specialised programmes combining studying the English language whilst preparing you for any of the following examinations. These examinations are often required to prove your level of English for college or university, to demonstrate your ability to an employer or improve your chances of acquiring a Visa. Galway English School runs courses to prepare you for either the First Certificate in English or Certificate in Advanced English, The Cambridge Exam and Test of English for International Communications  examinations:

FCE and CAE exams

Galway English School FCE (First Certificate in English) and CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) preparation Courses take will prepare you for the new computer based FCE and CAE exams. These are designed to help you measure your progress in English. The English language ‘plus’ exam preparation programme is an intensive 4 week course where you will be working towards taking either the FCE or CAE examination at the end of the programme. When you are awarded your First Certificate in English (FCE) and Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) your current level of English ability can be confirmed. They can be used to prove your level of English for college or university, or to demonstrate your ability to an employer.

Cambridge Examination Preparation - Standard

Galway English School runs the Cambridge Examination Preparation standard courses three times throughout the year. The courses start in January, March and September and are from 9 to 13 weeks in duration. Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) and Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) Standard (written) Exams take place three times each year. Entry to a Cambridge Examination Preparation Course requires a level of FCE Intermediate Level and CAE Upper Intermediate Level. The written examinations normally occur in the final week or a week afyter the Cambridge Examination course finishes. The speaking exams may take place in the two-week period before the written papers. With this in mind, it is important that you book enough time in Ireland before or after the Cambridge Examination programme to complete all the examinations. Usually the dates are confirmed by University of Cambridge ESOL 4 weeks before the time of the examination.

Test of English for International Communications (TOEIC)

Galway English School is a recognised centre for administering TOEIC (Test of English for International Communications) tests. Galway English School can administer the test to individuals or groups. The school recognizes the difficulty some candidates may have when attempting to take the exam at a specific time, so the school can offer flexibility in the dates to suit you. Test dates are normally Mondays or Friday; this can be changed upon request. Test times are normally 1:30-4:00pm;specific times can be requested at the time of registration. Results are generally available within 7 days of test completion. Certificates are provided and the cost is included in the exam price. Certificates are normally available within 14 days of test completing the TOEIC.
