English ‘plus’ Internship Programme

Many of our Vancouver students find it useful to combine their English language courses with an internship placement. When you take part in our unique "COOP / Internship" programme, you will develop your English language skills focusing on your particular line of work. This study is complimented with a Job Skills seminar and a full-time work training with a Canadian company. Our work placements are usually unpaid and just a great way to gain experience, practice the language and build your confidence, however, paid work is available in special circumstances. Typical internship placements are banking, finance, accounting, media, fisheries, event management, travel, hospitality, IT and sales.

Your area of work will be assigned to you according to your past work experience, education, time available to work, the types of work that is currently available  in Canada, your level of English and very importantly,  your enthusiasm to learn and presentation. You may start off observing and assisting other employees.

Our Work and Travel Providers team will arrange the internship placements for you. The team will always be there to support you and answer your questions.

The minimum stay is 8 weeks with 4 weeks of English lessons and 4 weeks of internship placement. However, we do recommend students take a program of 6 months: 3 months English and 3 months internship. This gives you plenty of time to gain the most from your internship and experience Vancouver. Also, some areas of work are only available for students who can do at least 3 months of internship as employees want to build up a relationship with you.
