CSN
If you are a Swedish citizen then you may be eligible for financial aid from the CSN to enable you to study abroad at different language schools. CSN may make an exception from this rule for EU nationals and their relatives.
The CSN is the Swedish agency in charge of financial aid for studies. It examines whether your application allows you to qualify for financial aid for your time studying. It sends financial aid to you if you qualify and is responsible for the repayment of loans.
When you are planning your studies you should apply for financial aid (studiestöd). The financial aid you receive will be in the form of various grants and loans for which you may be eligible when you attend a college, university, adult secondary education programme (Komvux), folk high school or upper secondary school. There is an extra child allowance for parents receiving student aid and the in the maximum age for receiving student has increased from 50 to 54. In fact your age is one of the factors that determine the kind of aid that you may receive.
There are many factors which will determine whether your studies abroad qualify you for financial aid. Here are some of the most important requirements. Your studies usually must:
- be full-time (inside EU, your studies may at present be part-time)
- last for at least three months (inside EU, it is at present enough with three weeks)
- be run or supervised by the government (if in Scandinavia)
- end with an exam or lead to a degree,be approved by CSN (if outside Scandinavia).
